Prim. Dr. Veselin Đaković
The first president of the specialist Association of Physiatrists of Republic of Srpska is prim. Dr. Veselin Đaković, one of the doyens of physical medicine and rehabilitation in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was the president of the Association of Physiatrists of Republic of Srpska from 2000 to 2005.
He spent his working life in the institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation “Dr Miroslav Zotović”, where he dealt with prosthetic rehabilitation and also was the director of the same.
Beside the Institute prim. Dr. Đaković worked in spas Vrućica and Mlječanica. Prim. Dr. Đaković is now an honorary member of the Association. -
M. Sc. Dr. Med. Nataša Tomić
M. Sc. Dr. Med. Nataša Tomić was the president of the Association from 2005 to 2010. During this period, the Association has intensified its technical and educational work, the list of members was updated and established modern way of communication among members of the Association.
In addition to her clinical work in the field of prosthetic treatment and rehabilitation of orthopedic patients, Dr. Tomić has worked in the Unit for Physical Rehabilitation SZO, office in Banja Luka and actively participated in the implementation of many international projects, such as Improving community-based rehabilitation in the Republic of Srpska, in which an educational part is realized in cooperation with local experts and Queen's University in Canada.
Dr. Tomić, as Vice president of the Steering Committee of the Association, is still actively involved in the work of the Association. She is still a commissionaire in UEMS PRM board and section. -
Prim. Dr. Vera Aksentić
Prim. Dr. Vera Aksentić was elected as a president of the Association in 2010. From 2005 to 2010, she was the president of the Steering Committee of the Association of physiologists and together with other members participated in an intensive development of physical medicine and rehabilitation in the Republic of Srpska, strengthening Association and cooperation with other associations in Republic of Srpska and region.
Prim. Dr. Aksentić, as a President of Organizational board, made a significant contribution to the organization of the 4th Congress of Physiatrists of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which was held in Banja Luka in 2012. She dedicated her life to the rehabilitation of patients with rheumatic diseases. She founded the Office for osteoporosis in 2005, which can now serve as a model of a multidisciplinary team approach to the prevention and the diagnosis and to the treatment protocols for patients with osteoporosis. She has participated as a speaker at professional conferences organized by the Association of Medical Doctors, Physiatrists Association and the Association for Osteoporosis RS.
She is the author and co-author of 20 papers in the field of osteoporosis.
